Veedol Therm SF Heat Transfer Oil Range
Veedol's mineral-base thermic-fluid range — Therm SF for standard indirect heating, plus specialty grades for higher-temperature service.
Veedol Therm Pro
The high-temperature grade, and the one to specify if your heater runs hot. Veedol rate it in closed forced-circulation systems for a maximum bulk oil temperature of 320°C and film temperature of 340°C, and it suits open pumped systems too. 35.02 cSt at 40°C, viscosity index 101, flash point 226°C. Meets ISO 6743 Part 12 Family Q and IS 14745:1999 (reaffirmed 2019).
Veedol Therm Fluid
The mineral workhorse for closed thermic-fluid heaters at bulk temperatures up to 290°C, and open heating systems up to 200°C. 31.50 cSt at 40°C, viscosity index 99, flash point 222°C. Meets ISO 6743 Part 12 Family Q and IS 14745:1999 (reaffirmed 2019).
Veedol Therm SF
Veedol’s synthetic heat transfer fluid, for indirect systems at bulk temperatures up to 290°C. Being synthetic it is far lighter and pumps much better cold — 15.1 cSt at 40°C and a pour point of −39°C, against 31.50 cSt and −6°C for the mineral grade — which matters on start-up and on systems that sit idle. Flash point 186°C.
Which Grade Your System Needs
Work from the bulk oil temperature your heater actually runs at, not its design rating. Up to 290°C, Therm Fluid or Therm SF. Above it, Therm Pro is the only grade in this range rated for the duty — 320°C bulk, 340°C film. Running any of them past their rated bulk temperature thermally cracks the fluid, and the cracked heavy ends coke onto the heater tubes. Send the heater make and an operating log and we will put the recommendation in writing.
Top-Up and Make-Up Supply
Replenishment for running installations, matched to the grade already in the system. Per-batch certification supports continuous-operation plants where a mid-cycle change is not feasible. Tell us which grade you are running — Therm SF is synthetic and the other two are mineral, so this is not a detail to guess at.
Used-Oil Analysis and Drain Planning
Periodic sample analysis — viscosity drift, total acid number, water content, particle count and carbon residue. Thermic fluid is changed on condition rather than on a calendar, and the trend across samples is what tells you when. Vasundhara coordinates the laboratory work for our supply customers.

What is the difference between Veedol Therm Pro, Therm Fluid and Therm SF?
Therm Pro is the high-temperature mineral grade — 320°C bulk and 340°C film in a closed forced-circulation system. Therm Fluid is the mineral grade for systems up to 290°C bulk and 200°C open. Therm SF is synthetic, also rated to 290°C bulk, but far lighter at 15.1 cSt against 31.50, with a −39°C pour point, so it circulates much better cold. Temperature picks the grade; cold pumpability picks between the two 290°C options.
How long does Veedol thermic fluid last in service?
Veedol do not publish a drain interval, and any figure quoted without seeing your system would be a guess. Life depends on bulk temperature, expansion-tank blanketing and air ingress. Change on condition: sample, watch viscosity, total acid number, flash point and carbon residue, and act on the trend.
What causes thermic fluid to discolour or smell burnt?
Usually thermal cracking at the heater tube surface, where film temperature runs well above bulk temperature — low flow, fouled tubes, or a hard-cycling burner. Sometimes oxidation from air in an unblanketed expansion tank. Darkening alone is not a reason to change out; a burnt smell with rising acid number and a falling flash point is. Sample before deciding.
Can Veedol thermic fluid be used above 320°C?
No. Therm Pro is the highest-rated grade in the Veedol range at 320°C bulk and 340°C film, and nothing in the range goes beyond it. Above that you are outside what a mineral thermic oil is rated for and should be looking at a synthetic aromatic heat transfer fluid from a specialist maker. We would rather tell you that than sell you a drum that will crack.
Is Veedol thermic fluid compatible with my existing Mobiltherm or Shell S2 during top-up?
Mineral thermic fluids of the same type are generally miscible, but "generally" is not a guarantee, and mixing pulls the charge down to the lower of the two ratings. Do not mix the synthetic Therm SF into a mineral charge. Tell us what is in the system and how much you need to add — if the make-up volume is significant we will recommend a changeout instead of a top-up.
What sample analysis tests should I run?
Kinematic viscosity at 40°C, total acid number, flash point, water content, particle count and carbon residue. Draw the sample from a circulating line at operating temperature, not from the bottom of the expansion tank. We coordinate the laboratory work for supply customers.
Can you supply Veedol thermic fluid in bulk for a large textile or chemical plant?
Yes, for a first fill or a full changeout. Give us the system volume, the grade and the date you need to be back in production, and we will confirm availability and pack size with Veedol before quoting rather than after.
