Shipyard & Marine Supplies — India
We supply the yard from our own authorised lines — welding and cutting consumables for hull and structural work, hardfacing for handling gear, hydraulic and gear oils for the cranes, presses, rolls and dock machinery, plus fire and surge protection. Vessel lubricants we source to requirement: tell us the engine, the specification and the port, and we will come back with a quotation and the maker’s datasheet. We would rather source a marine cylinder oil against your spec than publish a range we are not authorised for.
Why Yards Buy From One Vendor
The Yard Is a Fabrication Shop on a Larger Scale
Hull blocks, panel lines, pipe shops, outfitting bays and the dry dock all draw on the same families of consumable and fluid as a heavy structural shop — just in bigger quantities and under harsher exposure. One vendor across the lot means one delivery schedule and one number to call.
Consumables Quoted by AWS Class Against Your Procedure
Yard welding is procedure-controlled and inspection-heavy. We quote every electrode, wire and flux by its manufacturer designation and AWS classification together, with batch certificates, so the string on your WPS, your store bin and your inspector’s report all match.
Class Approvals Are Confirmed Per Consignment, Not Assumed
Where a consignment must carry classification-society approval, we obtain the manufacturer’s current approval certificate for that product and that batch and send it with the quotation. We will not tell you a consumable is class-approved from memory; approvals lapse and are re-issued, and a stale claim gets discovered at survey.
Coastal Storage Reality
A yard on the Bay of Bengal is a hard place to keep low-hydrogen electrodes. We will look at how consumables come in, where they sit and how they are issued, and say what actually needs changing — holding ovens, quivers, issue discipline, or simply smaller more frequent deliveries instead of quarterly bulk.
Stocked in Secunderabad, Delivered to the Coast
Bulk warehouse in Hyderabad with scheduled delivery into the Visakhapatnam and Kakinada corridor, and pan-India through our group network for yards on the west and south coasts. Consumables by the tonne, oils in barrels, IBCs and tankers.
GeM and Defence-Yard Documentation
GeM and Udyam registered. Batch test certificates, mill certificates, MSDS, OEM authorisation letters and BIS conformance documentation with every despatch — the documentation load on a defence or PSU yard order is heavier than on commercial work, and it is where most delays happen.
What We Supply a Yard
Hull and Structural Electrodes — Ador
Supabase E7018 low-hydrogen basic for hull structural connections, bulkheads, foundations and anything under notch-toughness scrutiny; Superbond E6013 for general and positional fabrication in the outfitting bays; Tenalloy 16W E7016 where a basic electrode with easier arc characteristics suits the operator; Topstar 140 E7024 iron-powder for high-deposition downhand fillets on panel lines and deck plating.
Panel Line and Block Welding
Ador Automig solid MIG wire for semi-automatic block and panel work, Ador Automelt submerged-arc wire and flux combinations for panel-line butt seams and long structural welds, and Ador Tigfil TIG filler for pipe-shop root passes and thin-section stainless. Wire and flux are quoted as the matched combination they were qualified as.
Stainless, Duplex and Dissimilar Work
Pipe shops and outfitting run a great deal of stainless. Ador Superinox 1C, 2C and 1B for the standard austenitic grades, Superinox 312 for unknown or difficult combinations, Betanox DL (E309L-16) for carbon-to-stainless transitions and buffer layers, and Betanox 4462 (E2209-16) for 2205 duplex on ballast, firewater and process piping.
Profile Cutting and Gouging
Ador King Cut profile-cutting systems and consumables for plate nesting and block cutting, gouging carbons for back-gouging and defect removal, and Ador Champ welding machines where the yard is adding capacity rather than consumables.
Hardfacing and Wear Protection
Ador Fontech Zedalloy hardfacing electrodes and flux-cored wires for rebuilding worn yard handling equipment — bogies, rollers, block-carrier wheels, grab and bucket edges, dock-gate seating faces — plus weld-overlay clad wear plate and alumina-ceramic-lined pipe and elbows for shot-blast lines and abrasive returns. Deposit hardness is quoted from the current manufacturer datasheet supplied with the quotation, not from a general figure.
Yard Hydraulics and Gearing
Yard cranes, plate rolls, presses, frame benders, dock-gate machinery and block-transfer equipment. Hydraulics on Balmerol Protomac H (H-32 through H-460) or Balmerol Protomac HLP 32/46/68, Veedol Avalon HLP 32/46/68 (its datasheet cites IS 11656, DIN 51524 Part 2 HLP, Bosch Rexroth RD 90220, Eaton and Parker HF-0/1/2) or Kixx HYDRO HD and Kixx HYDRO AW. Where the machine sees a wide ambient swing between a covered shop and an open berth, Kixx HVL ISO 46/68 is the high-viscosity-index option.
Gear Oils, Slideways and Compressors
Crane and winch gearboxes on Balmerol Protomac SP Series or Veedol Apreslube, ISO VG 68 through 1000, meeting IS 8406 and published against DIN 51517 Part 3, ISO 12925-1 CKC/CKD and the DIN 51354 FZG test. Machine-shop slideways on Kixx WAY LUBE ISO 68/220 or Veedol Anodrip. Yard air on Kixx Compressor Oil 68, or Kixx Comsyn ISO 46/68 PAO synthetic on continuously-running compressors where drain interval drives the cost.
Greases for a Salt-Air Environment
Balmerol CCSM HT calcium sulfonate complex where salt spray, water washout and shock load arrive together — which on a coastal yard is most exposed points. Balmerol Liprex EP Series and Balmerol MP 3 (N) lithium grease for general bearings, Balmerol Autoplex LC lithium complex for higher-temperature duty, and Kixx GREASE EP 0/1/2, Kixx GREASE MOLY EP 2 and Kixx GREASE LIPLEX 2 for centralised systems and open gearing.
Machining and Pipe-Shop Fluids
Pipe-shop and machine-shop cutting on Veedol Solucut soluble or Veedol Adacut and Kixx CUTTING OIL SL neat, chosen by the operation. Coolant concentration control and sump-life advice included — a yard machine shop usually loses more to coolant mismanagement and salt-air contamination than to tooling.
Marine Lubricants — Sourced to Requirement
Vessel-side lubrication — marine cylinder oils for slow-speed crosshead engines by BN and viscosity, trunk-piston engine oils for medium-speed sets, system and crankcase oils, stern-tube and sterngear oils, hydraulic and deck-machinery oils, and refrigeration compressor oils. These sit outside the six brands we hold authorised distribution for, so we source them against your specification rather than list a range. Send us the engine make and model, the fuel sulphur you are running, the OEM’s approved-fluid list and the delivery port, and we will return a quotation with the manufacturer’s datasheet and the OEM approval letter attached. If a marine lubricant major with bunkering arrangements at your port is the better answer, we will tell you that too.
Fire and Electrical Protection
A yard holds oil, fuel gas, oxygen, paint and solvent, often within metres of live hot work. HD Fire Protect sprinklers, deluge valves, foam systems and monitors for oil and paint stores, gas manifolds and workshop areas, sized against IS 15105 for sprinkler system design and IS 9972 for sprinkler heads. Citel Type 1 and Type 2 surge protective devices to IEC 61643-11 on incomers, CNC cutting table supplies, crane control panels and dock-gate machinery — an open coastal site takes more lightning and switching transients than an inland shop.
Where It Goes in the Yard
Plate Stockyard and Cutting
Plate handling gantries and magnets, CNC profile cutting tables, plasma and oxy-fuel cutting, edge preparation. Crane gearboxes and wire-rope points, cutting consumables, and surge protection on the CNC supply, which on an open site is genuinely exposed.
Panel Line and Block Assembly
One-side welding lines, panel butt seams, stiffener fitting, block turning and transfer. Submerged-arc wire and flux, MIG wire, hydraulic oil on the block-transfer equipment and heavy EP grease on the bogies and rollers.
Pipe Shop and Outfitting
Pipe bending, spool fabrication, stainless and duplex work, valve and fitting assembly, machining. TIG filler and stainless electrodes, cutting fluid, slideway oil, machine hydraulics.
Dry Dock and Berths
Dock-gate machinery, caisson equipment, dock pumps, staging and access gear, hull cleaning and blasting. Gate machinery gear oil, salt-resistant greases, blast-line ceramic-lined sections, and fire protection reaching areas where hot work happens near a coated hull.
Blasting, Painting and Coating
Shot and grit blasting plant, abrasive recovery, airless spray, paint stores and mixing rooms, drying and curing areas. Compressor oil, blast-line wear protection, and fire protection sized for a space holding solvent-borne coatings.
Yard Utilities
Air compressors, DG sets, substations and switchgear, workshop cranes, effluent and abrasive-recovery plant. Compressor oil, gear oil, greases, and surge protection on the incoming supply and generator controls.
Shipbuilding and Marine Belts — Our Service Area
The belts below describe where we deliver — they are the yards and marine-fabrication clusters inside our service radius, not a customer list. The companies we have supplied are listed on our about page.
- Visakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh): The nearest major shipbuilding and ship-repair concentration to our Secunderabad warehouse, with a large sub-contractor and pipe-fabrication ecosystem around the port and the industrial estates. Scheduled road delivery.
- Kakinada and the AP coast: Offshore support, barge and small-craft yards, plus fabrication units serving the oil and gas corridor. Consolidated deliveries alongside our refinery-corridor route.
- Chennai, Ennore and Katupalli (Tamil Nadu): Commercial and defence shipbuilding plus a heavy marine-fabrication base, reached through our southern logistics hub with consolidated billing.
- Kochi and the Kerala coast: Shipbuilding, ship repair and marine engineering, supplied through our group network on project schedules.
- Mumbai, Goa and the west coast: Defence and commercial yards and their fabrication sub-contractors, supplied pan-India through our group network.

Beyond Supply — What We Do at Your Yard
Consumable Schedule Against Your Procedures
Send us the WPS set and we return a consumable schedule mapped procedure by procedure, with the manufacturer designation, the AWS class, the pack size and the certificate that will be supplied. It removes the guesswork at the store window, which is where most wrong-consumable non-conformances start.
Class Approval Documentation Pack
For consignments needing classification-society approval we assemble the manufacturer’s current approval certificate, the batch test certificate and the MSDS as one pack per consignment, so your QA does not have to chase three parties during a survey.
Coastal Storage and Handling Review
A walk-through of receipt, storage, oven practice and issuing, written up plainly. Salt air and monsoon humidity take low-hydrogen consumables out of specification faster than most yards allow for, and the fix is usually procedural rather than capital.
Hydraulic and Gear Oil Condition Monitoring
Sampling programme across cranes, dock machinery, presses and rolls — viscosity, acid number, particle count, water content — trended against your own baseline. Water ingress on a coastal site is the failure mode worth watching, and it shows in the data long before it shows in a bearing.
Fire System Equipment Schedule
From your yard layout and occupancy we produce an equipment schedule for oil stores, paint and solvent areas and gas manifolds against IS 15105 and IS 9972, so the tender document matches what an inspector will pass.
Surge Protection Survey for an Exposed Site
Coastal and open sites take more lightning and switching transients than inland shops. We survey what is worth protecting — CNC controllers, crane and gate control panels, weighbridge, PLC cabinets — and specify Citel Type 1 and Type 2 devices to IEC 61643-11, with a note of what does not need protecting.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do you supply marine lubricants for vessels?
Yes, on a sourced-to-requirement basis. Marine cylinder oils, trunk-piston and system oils, stern-tube oils, deck-machinery hydraulics and refrigeration compressor oils sit outside the six brands we hold authorised distribution for, so rather than publish a range we quote against your specification. What we need from you: engine make and model, the fuel sulphur you are running (which sets the BN), the OEM’s approved-fluid list, quantities and the delivery port. We come back with a quotation carrying the manufacturer’s datasheet and the OEM approval letter. Where a marine lubricant major with bunkering arrangements at your port is genuinely the better route, we will say so. The yard-side range — welding, cutting, hardfacing, workshop hydraulics, gear oils and greases, fire and surge protection — is our own authorised stock and ships from Secunderabad.
What do you need to quote a marine cylinder oil?
Engine make and model, and whether it is a slow-speed crosshead or a medium-speed trunk-piston set; the sulphur content of the fuel you are burning, because that determines the base number required; the engine builder’s current approved-fluid list; the quantity and the delivery port with the date. BN selection is the part that goes wrong most often — running a high-BN cylinder oil on low-sulphur fuel deposits calcium in the ring pack just as surely as running too low a BN on high-sulphur fuel corrodes the liner. We quote to the engine builder’s current recommendation, not to a rule of thumb.
Are your welding consumables approved by classification societies?
Ador holds classification-society approvals on parts of its range, but approvals are product-specific, batch-relevant and periodically re-issued — so the honest answer for any given order is that we obtain the manufacturer’s current approval certificate for that product and send it with the quotation. Tell us which society and which grade your procedure calls for and we will confirm in writing before you commit. We do not quote class approval from memory.
Which electrode for hull structural work?
Supabase E7018 low-hydrogen basic is the mainstay for hull structural connections, bulkheads and foundations, and for anything carrying a notch-toughness requirement. Topstar 140 E7024 earns its place on long downhand fillets in the panel line where deposition rate is the constraint, and Superbond E6013 covers general and positional outfitting work. The controlling document is your WPS — send it and we will quote against it rather than against a general recommendation.
How do you handle low-hydrogen electrode storage on a coastal yard?
Vacuum-sealed packs where the manufacturer offers them, smaller and more frequent deliveries instead of quarterly bulk, holding ovens at the issue point rather than only in the main store, and portable quivers at the bay. Most of the improvement in a coastal yard comes from issuing discipline rather than equipment — rods drawn at the start of a shift and left on a staging platform until lunch are already outside their certificate.
What grease survives a salt-air, water-washout environment?
Calcium sulfonate complex is the thickener class that holds up when salt spray, direct water washout and shock load arrive together — Balmerol CCSM HT is the grade we quote for dock machinery, exposed crane points and anything getting hosed. Lithium and lithium complex greases such as Balmerol Liprex EP, Balmerol MP 3 (N) and Balmerol Autoplex LC are perfectly adequate for covered workshop bearings and cost less; using calcium sulfonate everywhere is money spent for no benefit.
Can you deliver to Visakhapatnam on a fixed schedule?
Yes. Visakhapatnam is our nearest coastal concentration and we run scheduled deliveries into that corridor from the Secunderabad warehouse, typically consolidated weekly or against your shutdown and block-erection plan. Chennai, Kochi, Mumbai and Kolkata are supplied through our group network on project schedules with consolidated billing.
Do you supply fire protection for a yard, and to which standards?
Yes — as authorised distributor for HD Fire Protect we supply sprinklers, deluge valves, foam systems and monitors, sized against IS 15105 for sprinkler system design and IS 9972 for sprinkler heads. In a yard the areas that repay attention are the oil and paint stores, the solvent mixing room and the gas manifold, rather than the open fabrication bays. Hydrant landing valves and hose reels we source from specialist manufacturers rather than HD Fire, and we say which is which on the quotation.
Why does an open yard need more surge protection than an inland shop?
Two reasons. Coastal and open sites take more direct and nearby lightning activity, and long cable runs across a yard between substation, cranes, dock machinery and workshops pick up induced transients that a compact indoor installation does not see. The equipment worth protecting is the equipment with a long replacement lead time — CNC cutting table controllers, crane and dock-gate control panels, PLC cabinets. Citel Type 1 devices at the incomer and Type 2 at the sub-distribution boards, both to IEC 61643-11, cover the realistic cases.
Send us your WPS set and your yard machine list
We will return a consumable schedule mapped to your procedures and a fluid schedule for the yard’s own plant, quoted by designation with the manufacturer’s datasheet on every line. Add the engine details and the port and we will quote the vessel lubricants alongside it.
