Zedalloy Hardfacing Electrodes (Zedalloy 600, Zedalloy 350)

Hardfacing stick electrodes across the Zedalloy range, for abrasive-wear protection on cement-mill rollers, crusher hammers, conveyor screws and mining bucket teeth. Ador publish a hardness for every grade, from 240–260 BHN on the machinable rebuilding alloys to 63–69 HRc on Zedalloy 670 Spl. The grade table below gives the published figure and the impact tolerance for each, because the two together decide the choice — the hardest deposit is rarely right on a part that takes a beating. Ador's flagship hardfacing range.

Zedalloy 550 (high-chromium hardfacing)

Medium-carbon high-chromium air-hardening deposit — Ador publish 54–56 HRc (540–580 BHN) as welded over three layers — for severe abrasion with moderate impact. Used on VRM table segments, hammer mills, screw augers.

FCW (Flux-Cored Hardfacing Wires)

Ador Automig FC 580 (55 HRc, three layers), FC 600 (58 HRc, single layer) and the self-shielded O-7000 open-arc series, for semi-automatic and robotic deposition. Used for high-volume re-build work — cement-VRM tables, steel-mill rolls, mining bucket-wheel teeth.

Automig FC 400 (die and tool reclamation)

Gas-shielded flux-cored wire for hot-working tool and die reclamation, 38–44 HRc as welded over three layers. For dies, punches, trimming edges and build-up on smaller components. Ador publish no Zedalloy-branded solid wire; where a TIG or MIG deposit is required we name the exact Ador designation on the quotation.

Wear Plates (Zedalloy weld-overlay clad plate)

Pre-hardfaced steel plates (mild-steel substrate + chromium-carbide overlay deposit) — bolted or welded into chutes, hoppers, cyclones, dust-collector internals. Saves field welding time on installation.

Ceramic-Lined Pipes & Elbows

Steel pipe with bonded alumina-ceramic lining for slurry transport, pneumatic conveying, and abrasive-material handling — coal, ash, cement, lime, alumina, bauxite. Service life 5-15× plain steel.

Ador Fontech is the wear-resistance and hardfacing-solutions sub-brand of Ador Welding Limited. While Ador Welding focuses on general welding consumables (electrodes, wires, machines), Ador Fontech focuses specifically on solutions to extend equipment service life in abrasive, impact-loaded, or corrosive environments — primarily for cement plants, steel plants, mining operators and bulk-material handling. Ador Fontech products include hardfacing electrodes (Zedalloy), flux-cored hardfacing wires, wear plates, ceramic-lined pipes, and engineered wear-protection consultancy.

When should I use hardfacing electrodes vs replacing the worn part?

Hardfacing is cost-effective when the worn part is large, expensive, or has a long lead time. Examples: cement-mill rollers (₹15-50 lakh new vs ₹2-5 lakh for re-build), mining bucket teeth (1 day re-build vs 4-week new-part lead time), conveyor-pulley relagging (₹50k vs ₹3 lakh for new pulley). Rule of thumb: if the component costs more than ₹50k new and the wear is on a defined surface area (not full-body), hardfacing is usually 4-10× cheaper than replacement and extends service life by another 60-150%.

Where is Ador Fontech hardfacing used in cement plants?

Zedalloy hardfacing electrodes and FCW wires are used widely across the Andhra Pradesh cement corridor and by pan-India cement majors. Typical application: kiln girth-gear & pinion build-up, VRM table-segment & roller re-build, crusher hammer-tip hardfacing, raw-mill liner protection. We supply directly to plant maintenance teams or via cement-OEM service contractors.

What hardness should I specify for VRM rollers vs crusher hammers?

VRM rollers: Zedalloy 600 at 58 HRc (600 BHN) single layer on the wear face, over a Zedalloy 350 build-up at 35–40 HRc — balance hardness with toughness so the deposit doesn't crack. Crusher hammers: Zedalloy 550 at 54–56 HRc (540–580 BHN) over three layers, or Zedalloy 600 where abrasion dominates over impact. For severe abrasion with low impact (slurry-pump impellers, screw augers): a tungsten-carbide-bearing deposit — Ador's self-shielded O-7075 open-arc wire — hardest but most brittle. Ador do not publish a hardness figure for O-7075, so we quote it from the current datasheet.

Are wear plates more cost-effective than hardfacing in-situ?

For new chutes, hoppers, cyclones, and dust-collector internals where the wear surface is large and accessible at fabrication time, pre-hardfaced wear plates (Zedalloy weld-overlay clad) are usually faster and lower total cost than in-situ hardfacing. The factory deposit is more uniform and the labour saving on installation is significant. For repair work on existing equipment in-situ, especially on irregular geometries (gear teeth, bucket teeth, hammer tips), in-situ stick-electrode hardfacing is the right choice.

Do you supply ceramic-lined pipes for slurry transport?

Yes. Ceramic-lined pipes (alumina-92% bonded into mild-steel pipe) are stocked in 4", 6", 8", 10", 12" diameters with matched elbows (45°, 90° bends). Used for ash slurry, coal slurry, alumina, bauxite, cement-clinker pneumatic conveying. Service life 5-15× plain mild steel — single ceramic-lined elbow can last 10+ years vs 6-12 months for plain steel in the same duty. Engineered project work for power plants, alumina refineries, cement plants, mineral-processing operations.

Can you provide on-site application & technique guidance?

Yes. Ador Fontech supports field application of hardfacing — pre-application surface preparation guidance, electrode/wire/parameter recommendations, build-up sequencing, post-deposition cooling protocols. For new applications or unfamiliar wear environments, we conduct a wear-mode survey (abrasion, impact, corrosion, temperature) and recommend the right deposit chemistry. Zedalloy grade selection — published hardness

Ador publish a hardness for each grade. On the BHN grades the number in the name is the hardness: Zedalloy 250 deposits at 240–260 BHN and Zedalloy 350 at 330–380 BHN — 23–27 and 35–40 HRc on Ador's datasheets. Select on hardness and impact tolerance together; the hardest deposit is rarely the right one on a part that takes a beating.

Die repair — the Nimoten range. For hot working tools rather than abrasion: Nimoten Plus 535 A at over 320 BHN, about 35 HRc after tempering, and 535 B at 42 HRc typical for hot forging die repair, Nimoten 9650 at 43–47 HRc as welded for hot press forging dies, Nimoten HFD at 50 HRc, and Nimoten 9580 at 56–60 HRc as welded for hot working tools and trimming dies.

Figures above are Ador’s published values. Deposit hardness varies with layer count, dilution from the base metal and preheat, so the current datasheet travels with every quotation. On hard base materials Ador recommend a Tenalloy-16 buffer layer under the hardfacing.
