Most suppliers will tell you a lubricant is “food grade”. Very few will give you the NSF registration number, and that number is the only thing an auditor accepts. We hold three genuine NSF H1 registrations and this page prints all three. It is also honest about where H1 is not required — because paying H1 prices for a gearbox on the roof helps nobody.

Honest About Where H1 Is Not Needed
H1 is for incidental food contact. A cooling tower gearbox, a compressor, a plant transformer and a boiler feed pump are not incidental-contact points, and specifying H1 there costs you money for no compliance benefit. We will map your points and tell you which need H1 and which do not.
Documentation That Survives an Audit
NSF registration letters for the products that hold one, plus TDS, MSDS and per-batch certificate of analysis on every despatch. For export-oriented plants we supply the pack an FSSC 22000 or BRCGS auditor asks for, in the order they ask for it.
A Straight Answer on FDA and EU Approval
FDA, MHRA and EMA do not approve lubricants. They audit your facility and your documentation. What exists is NSF H1 registration against FDA 21 CFR 178.3570, and that is what we can put in your hands. Anyone offering you an “FDA-approved” grease is selling you a phrase.

This is the workhorse of an H1 programme: one product covers hydraulic, gear and circulating duty across most of a plant.

The aerosol form of SF-330 in a 500 ml can, NSF H1 registration number 169740. Multipurpose lubricant, penetrant and cleanser for chains, slides, hinges and general maintenance points inside the food zone — the can that lives on the maintenance trolley, which is exactly the one that gets used carelessly, so it is worth it being the registered one.
Sourced Food-Grade Lines
Pharmacopoeial and food-grade white oils, H1 chain oils for high-temperature oven and tunnel chains, and H1 compressor fluids are sourced rather than stocked. We say so rather than implying we hold them — send us the point, the temperature and the pack size and we will quote with a lead time and a registration number.
Washdown and Wet-Duty Bearings — Non-Contact
Outside the food zone, where caustic washdown and water are the enemy rather than contact risk, Balmerol CCSM HT calcium sulfonate complex grease resists water washout and holds up under load and heat. Note it is not an H1 product — it belongs on drive-end bearings, conveyor take-ups and plant equipment outside the contact zone, and we will tell you where that line falls.

Where the Work Is
Food and beverage processing across the south is spread rather than concentrated, and the compliance pressure varies enormously between a domestic plant and one shipping into the EU or the Gulf. The clusters below are where we dispatch most often, and what tends to drive the specification in each.
- Telangana and Hyderabad: poultry and meat processing, spice and masala manufacture, packaged snacks, bakery, and a large concentration of edible oil refining and packing. Export-oriented spice and snack plants carry the heaviest documentation burden and are where the H1 registration number gets asked for first.
- Coastal Andhra — Vijayawada, Guntur, Nellore, Kakinada: seafood and shrimp processing for export, rice milling and parboiling, dairy, edible oil, and aquaculture feed. Seafood export plants audit hard against EU and US buyer requirements, and washdown is constant and caustic.
- Karnataka — Bengaluru, Mysuru, Hubballi: dairy and beverage, biscuit and confectionery, coffee processing, and a substantial contract-manufacturing base for branded FMCG. Modern lines, high automation, and PLC-heavy — which is why surge protection belongs in the conversation.
- Tamil Nadu — Coimbatore, Salem, Chennai belt: flour and pulse milling, edible oil, dairy, beverage bottling and a dense packaged-food manufacturing base, with a large cold chain serving both domestic retail and export.
- Cold chain and warehousing, statewide: controlled-atmosphere and frozen storage attached to almost all of the above. Ammonia refrigeration, dock equipment, standby power and a fire-protection problem that is genuinely different from a dry warehouse.

We walk the plant and mark every point as H1-required, H2-acceptable or unrestricted, then build the schedule around it. The usual outcome is fewer H1 points than the plant assumed and better coverage on the ones that matter — which is both cheaper and more defensible in an audit.

NSF registration letters, TDS, MSDS and per-batch COA assembled per product and per despatch, in the format an FSSC 22000, BRCGS or buyer audit asks for. If a product does not hold a registration, the pack says so rather than burying it.

Anything else we quote for a food-zone point is sourced against a registration number we will give you with the quotation, not stocked.
Are your lubricants FDA approved for pharmaceutical and food manufacturing?
No lubricant is, because the FDA does not approve lubricants. Nor do MHRA or EMA. What those bodies do is audit your facility and its documentation. The relevant mechanism is NSF H1 registration against the FDA 21 CFR 178.3570 composition requirement, which is what our three registered products hold. If a supplier tells you a grease is FDA approved, ask them for the approval number and watch what happens.
Do I need H1 lubricants everywhere in the plant?
Almost certainly not, and specifying them everywhere is expensive without improving compliance. H1 is for points where incidental contact with product is possible. A cooling tower gearbox, an air compressor, a plant transformer, a boiler feed pump and most of the warehouse are not those points. We will walk your plant and mark the H1 zone honestly - the usual result is a shorter H1 list and better coverage on it.
What is the difference between SF-330 and SG-330?
SF-330 is an oil - synthetic, free of mineral hydrocarbons, available ISO VG 32 to 450, and used for hydraulic, gear and circulating duty. SG-330 is an NLGI 2 grease for bearings. Most plants need both: SF-330 in the reservoirs and gearboxes inside the food zone, SG-330 at the greased points. The SF-330 aerosol is the same oil in a 500 ml can for chains, slides and hinges.
Is Balmerol CCSM HT a food-grade grease?
No, and it is worth being clear about that. CCSM HT is a calcium sulfonate complex grease with excellent water-washout resistance and high-temperature performance, which makes it very good for wet, hot, heavily loaded bearings - but it is not NSF H1 registered. It belongs outside the food contact zone: drive-end bearings, conveyor take-ups, utility equipment. Inside the zone, use SG-330.
Can you supply H1 chain oil for oven and tunnel chains?
Sourced, not stocked. High-temperature H1 chain oils are a specialist line and we would rather quote you one with its registration number and a lead time than imply we hold it. Send us the chain temperature, the pin and bush design and the current consumption rate and we will come back with a named product and its NSF number.
Do you supply fire protection for cold stores and ammonia plant rooms?
We supply HD Fire sprinklers, deluge valves and foam systems, and we design to IS 15105 and NFPA 13. A cold store envelope and an ammonia refrigeration plant room are genuinely different problems - ammonia machinery rooms are about detection, ventilation and emergency control as much as suppression, and the answer is often not a sprinkler. We will have that conversation properly rather than quoting the nearest product.
Do you supply outside Telangana and Andhra Pradesh?
Yes, pan-India through our group network. Stocked H1 lines dispatch same day from Secunderabad; sourced items are quoted with a lead time.
