Which oil should I use in a screw air compressor?
An oil-flooded rotary screw compressor usually takes an ISO VG 46 or 68 compressor oil, such as Veedol Rotapro 68 or Kixx Compressor Oil 68. Check the compressor manual first, especially while the machine is under warranty.
Can I use hydraulic oil in an air compressor?
It is not recommended. Compressor oils are formulated to resist oxidation and carbon deposits at compressor temperatures, and to separate from the air; a hydraulic oil is not.
When is a synthetic compressor oil worth it?
When the compressor runs hot, runs round the clock, or you want longer drain intervals. Kixx Comsyn is a synthetic compressor oil for this duty.
Do you supply refrigeration compressor oil?
Yes. Veedol Rotapro Ref 68 is a refrigeration compressor oil. Tell us the refrigerant and compressor model so we can confirm it suits.
How often should compressor oil be changed?
Follow the compressor maker’s interval, adjusted for temperature and duty. Oil analysis tells you whether the oil can run longer or needs changing sooner.
