Oil Mist Collectors for CNC Machines
Machine-mounted and central oil mist collectors for CNC turning, milling, grinding and gear cutting: mechanical units for water-soluble coolant mist, electrostatic units for fine neat-oil mist and smoke, and central systems for machine lines. Sized per machine and supplied against order from Secunderabad.

Oil mist collection at a glance
| Application | What usually fits |
|---|---|
| Water-soluble coolant mist (turning, milling) | Mechanical collector mounted on the machine |
| Neat cutting oil mist and smoke (grinding, gear cutting, high speed) | Electrostatic collector, or a mechanical unit with a final high-efficiency filter |
| Ten or more machines in a line | Central system with ducting to each machine |
| Open machines with no enclosure | Enclose or hood the machine first — a collector cannot capture mist it cannot reach |
| Running cost | Filter changes or electrode-cell cleaning, plus power |
| How we supply | Against order, sized per machine, filters and spares on order |
Types of oil mist collector
Mechanical collectors
Mist is spun out by a rotating drum or caught in stages of filter media and drains back to the machine. Simple to run; suited to most water-soluble coolant mist.
Electrostatic collectors
An electrostatic cell charges and collects very fine droplets and smoke. Suited to neat oil, high-pressure coolant and grinding, where mechanical filters alone pass fine smoke. The cell is washed and reused.
Dual-stage electrostatic
Two collection stages for heavier smoke loads, such as heat treatment, high-speed grinding and gear hobbing in neat oil.
Central systems
One collector serving a line of machines through ducting. Fewer units to service on large machine shops.
How to size an oil mist collector
| Point | What to check |
|---|---|
| Enclosure volume | Airflow is set from the machine enclosure volume and the air changes needed to keep it under slight negative pressure |
| Mist type | Water-soluble coolant, neat oil, or smoke from high temperatures — this decides mechanical or electrostatic |
| Machine process | High-pressure through-spindle coolant and grinding make finer mist than flood-cooled turning |
| Mounting | On the machine roof, on a stand beside it, or central with ducting |
| Door interlock | Run the collector on a short delay after the cycle ends, so the door opens on clean air |
| Supply | 230 V or 415 V; check the noise level near the operator |
Mist control starts with the coolant
Too-rich or degraded coolant mists and smokes more. Holding concentration and pH, skimming tramp oil and using a low-misting neat oil where neat oil is needed cut the load on the collector. We supply the cutting fluids and run coolant management and coolant testing for the same machines — see cutting oils and coolants.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does an oil mist collector do?
It draws air from inside an enclosed CNC machine, separates the coolant or oil mist and returns the collected fluid, so mist does not settle on floors and machines or reach operators.
Mechanical or electrostatic oil mist collector — which do I need?
Mechanical collectors suit most water-soluble coolant mist from turning and milling. Electrostatic collectors capture the finer mist and smoke from neat-oil machining, grinding and high-pressure coolant.
How is an oil mist collector sized?
From the machine enclosure volume and the air changes needed, adjusted for the process. High-pressure coolant and grinding need more capacity than flood-cooled turning. Share the machine model and we recommend the airflow.
Can one collector serve several machines?
Yes, with a central system and ducting. It suits lines of similar machines; individual units are simpler where machines are spread out or run different fluids.
Does an oil mist collector reduce coolant use?
It returns collected fluid to the machine, and good coolant control reduces misting in the first place. Together they cut coolant top-up.
Do you supply replacement filters?
Yes. Replacement filters and spares are supplied on order for the equipment we supply.
