Which laser cutting consumables wear out fastest?
Protective windows and nozzles. The window takes spatter from below the focusing lens and the nozzle wears from heat and spatter, so both are changed far more often than lenses or ceramic rings.
Single or double layer nozzle — which do I need?
Single-layer nozzles are generally used for nitrogen and air cutting; double-layer nozzles for oxygen cutting of mild steel. The nozzle diameter follows your machine’s cutting charts for the material and thickness.
How do I know which protective window fits my machine?
It depends on the cutting head make and model. Send us the head details, or the window diameter and thickness from the old part, and we match it.
What does the ceramic ring do?
It holds the nozzle and carries the capacitive height-sensing signal. A cracked ring gives unstable height control, so check it after any head crash.
Why do my protective windows burn quickly?
Common causes are dust on the window during a change, dirty or wet assist gas, poor fume extraction and an off-centre beam. Fixing these makes windows last much longer.
