Class-approved welding consumables

A shipyard QA department does not ask for an electrode by brand. It asks whether the consumable carries an approval from the classification society the vessel is being built to — and it asks for the certificate. This page lists the Ador grades whose published datasheet names at least one class society, so you can check the approval before you raise the enquiry rather than after.

Read this the right way. An approval is held by the manufacturer, for specific grades, positions and sometimes specific diameters, and it has an expiry. What is printed below is what Ador publish on the datasheet. It tells you an approval exists; it does not tell you it is current for your grade size and position today. Ask us for the certificate and we will get the live one from Ador before you commit it to a procedure.

What the other names mean

The fourth column carries approvals that are not class societies but come up in the same tenders. IBR is the Indian Boiler Regulations, required for boiler and pressure-part work. BIS is the Bureau of Indian Standards licence behind the ISI mark. RDSO is Indian Railways. NPCIL, NTPC and BHEL are buyer approvals rather than standards bodies. CE is the European conformity marking.

What we do with a class-approved enquiry

Send the society, the grade or AWS class, the diameter and the position. We confirm against Ador’s current approval, ask them for the certificate copy in your name where the yard needs it, and quote with the batch and heat details you will need for the pack. We are the authorised Ador dealer and hold stock in Secunderabad; on grades we do not floor-stock we will tell you the lead time before you order, not after.
